Mr. Do / Universal to JAMMA Adapter

Description

Allows you to use your Mr. Do and other Universal pre-JAMMA games, in a JAMMA cabinet or a super gun device.

Universal Entertainment, not to be confused with the American film studio, is a Japanese arcade and pachinko manufacturer. They’re mainly known for for their Mr. Do series of games, which were fairly popular in Japan and North America.

These games typically output audio level signals which require an external sound amplifier, and have separate composite, horizontal and vertical video sync outputs. This adapter includes an on-board sound amp and uses only the composite video sync for compatibility with JAMMA cabinets.

Compatible Games

This is the list of compatible games that can be used with this adapter:

The adapter has been tested with genuine Mr. Do boards for compatibility.

Note: Some Mr. Do games have an on-board audio amplifier, and some may have an on-board amplifier without a volume pot and a secondary amplifier board with a volume knob as part of the conversion kit.

This adapter has three modes of operation to handle these games:

Normal: Game PCB has no on-board amplifier. Adapter amplifier is used to amplify the sound.

Off: Game PCB has on-board amplifier and a volume knob. Adapter amplifier is bypassed and the PCB amplifier is used.

Soft: Game PCB has an on-board amplifier and no volume knob. Adapter amplifier is used with very low gain so that the sound volume can be adjusted.
As always please check the pinout section to ensure your game will work with this adapter.

Revision History:

Rev 1.0: Initial Design.

Rev 1.1: Improved the sound circuit and added a soft / normal / off amplifier mode for support of games that have a built-in, on-board amp.

Rev 1.2: Logo resize and parts footprint updates.

Rev 1.3: Minor cosmetic changes.

Rev 1.4: Added coin pullup resistors for dedicated, non-kit boards that require coin counters. This is the currently available version.
