Allows you to use your genuine Tehkan World Cup PCB in a JAMMA cabinet or a super gun device.
Tehkan World Cup, also known as Tecmo Cup, is a popular soccer game from the mid 1980s produced and distributed by Tehkan in 1985. Its was released prior to the start of the 1986 World Cup and featured the colors of the world’s top teams without licensing or using of any intellectual property from FIFA.
The genuine Tehkan game featured a trackball controller, while bootlegs used a joystick and had a different pinout. Its trackball control system provided unique which was fast and competitive on cocktail cabinets but it also made the game less reliable. It may be why there are so many bootleg joystick versions of this game. This adapter does however feature a joystick to trackball emulator on a mictrocontroller which allows the game to be played with a standard JAMMA setup.
Tehkan also released other games on this hardware, a football game called Gridiron Fight and Tee’d Off, a golf game. While this adapter works all these games, it only works with genuine boards from Tehkan. It doesn’t work with the bootlegs which require a different adapter.

This adapter has been tested with a genuine World Cup and Tee’d Off board for compatibility.
Important: Golf games require precise trackball speed control and are therefore not ideal candidates for joystick to trackball emulation. While the game can be played and tested, it won’t be a whole lot of fun to play with a joystck.
